De artibus in auream Goa: preparing the image. Transcontextuality in the golden century of Portuguese painting

The project was carried out in collaboration with the Museum of Christian Art at Old Goa. It is sought to confirm the artistic attribution of the paintings to the different Portuguese workshops (Lisbon, Viseu, Évora) and to look for technical and material influences in Indo-Portuguese painting from 15th to 16th century. Material characterization of pigments and ground layers was carried out by portable XRF in paintings located at old Goa and in micro-samples, by Raman spectroscopy at the LIBPhys-UNL.
